GASTRIC BAND
Silicone device that is placed around the stomach creating a pouch (bag) and that is adjustable through a device that is placed under the skin.
Advantages: Minimum invasion, no stomach or bowel cuts, 40 min of surgery.
Disadvantages: 30% of excess weight loss, 20% of patients will sometimes require a new surgery due to complications of the band.
